Uploading Lists for Enrichment

Learn how to upload and prepare your contact lists for bulk enrichment with LeadMagic. This guide covers supported file formats, required fields, and best practices for optimal results.

Supported File Formats

LeadMagic supports the following file formats for list uploads:

  • CSV (Comma-Separated Values)
  • XLSX (Microsoft Excel)
  • XLS (Microsoft Excel Legacy)
  • TXT (Tab-delimited text files)

Required Fields for Different Enrichment Types

Depending on the type of enrichment you need, your list should include specific fields:

Step-by-Step Upload Process

  1. Log in to your LeadMagic account and navigate to the Dashboard.
  2. Click on "Lists" in the main navigation to access the list management section.
  3. Click the "Upload New List" button in the top right corner of the screen.
  4. Choose a name for your list that will help you identify it later (e.g., "Q2 2023 Prospects").
  5. Select your file by clicking "Browse" or drag and drop your file into the designated area.
  6. Map your columns to the appropriate LeadMagic fields. Our system will attempt to automatically map standard column names.
  7. Select the enrichment services you want to apply to your list.
  8. Review your credit usage estimate based on the list size and selected services.
  9. Click "Start Processing" to begin the enrichment process.

Best Practices for List Preparation

  • Clean your data before uploading: Remove duplicates, fix formatting issues, and standardize company names.
  • Use clear column headers: Name your columns clearly (e.g., "First Name", "Last Name", "Company") to facilitate mapping.
  • Split large lists: For better management and faster processing, split lists larger than 5,000 records.
  • Include as much information as possible: The more data points you provide, the more accurate our enrichment will be.
  • Standardize company domains: Remove "http://", "https://", and "www." from domain names.

Troubleshooting Common Upload Issues

File Format Errors

If you receive a "File format not supported" error, ensure your file is saved in one of the supported formats (CSV, XLSX, XLS, TXT). Try re-saving your file in CSV format, which is the most reliable.

Column Mapping Issues

If the system cannot automatically map your columns, try renaming them to match our standard field names (First Name, Last Name, Email, Company, etc.) before uploading.

Upload Timeouts

For very large files, uploads may time out. Try splitting your file into smaller batches or use our API for programmatic uploads of large datasets.
